101 Films International, an Amcomri Entertainment company, has acquired Corsicana, a Western thriller feature set in Texas. The historical drama, which is available for delivery later this year, stars Isaiah Washington (Grey’s Anatomy), Noel Gugliemi (Fast & Furious) and Lew Temple (The Walking Dead).
An action-filled thriller with a compelling narrative, Corsicana has at its central character Deputy United States Marshal Bass Reeves, a real-life black cowboy on whom, it is believed, the Lone Ranger was based.
Written by Robert Johnson (Night Night) and Isaiah Washington, who also directs, Corsicana sees the charismatic Bass Reeves (Washington) reunite with his former partner turned fugitive Sam Tanner. Joined by an ex-Union Sharpshooter, they unite in a race against time as they track Jack Donner and his vicious gang of killers to the oil-rich Texas town of Corsicana.
Michael Walker, EVP Productions and Acquisitions at 101 Films International comments, “As we continue to focus on acquiring commercially driven feature films with wide audience appeal, we are delighted to launch this powerful movie at the Marché this year. Westerns are certainly making waves around the world right now and Corsicana, with its strong narrative and high production values, is an engrossing example of the genre.”
Amber McNutt, Executive Producer Rose Dove Entertainment adds: “Corsicana is a ‘different’ type of Western portraying events from the past that occurred in Bass Reeve’s life, rather than being a straightforward ‘shoot em up’ cowboy film. We’re very pleased to be working with 101 Films International to bring Corsicana to Cannes and the global market. Our creative team, cast, and crew are filled with a great sense of pride and excitement at this opportunity. Professional, prompt and precise, 101 Films has been a delight to work with during distribution of Corsicana.”
101 Films International is attending the Marché at the Cannes Film Festival with further brand-new titles Fortunes of War and War Blade.
